About the founder
of smart brain holistic
Maria Gubernatorova, a certified naturopath and nutritional therapist, founded SmartBrain Holistic to help children and adults with autism, ADHD and those with mental health complaints such as anxiety and depression to improve their symptoms, unlock their potential, and thrive. As a mother of a neurodivergent child, I understand the challenges firsthand and am passionate about supporting others on their journey to better health.
At SmartBrain, I take a personalised, functional medicine approach that addresses the root causes of symptoms. By examining health history, diet, lifestyle, and environmental factors, I identify potential nutritional imbalances, food sensitivities, digestive issues, or immune challenges that may be contributing to neurodivergent conditions and emotional & mental health issues.
While autism and ADHD are often seen as untreatable, research shows that factors like gut health, nutrition, inflammation, infections and toxicity levels can significantly impact these conditions. The gut-brain connection is crucial, as gut bacteria play a key role in producing the neurotransmitters that regulate mood, cognition and sleep. My evidence-based approach focuses on restoring gut health, supporting detoxification, and balancing the immune system and improving nutritional status.
This process requires commitment and a long-term strategy, typically involving several sessions over 6-8 months. I also offer at-home visits upon request for an additional fee.
Why Choose SmartBrain Holistic?
As both a certified naturopath and nutritional therapist, and the mother of a neurodivergent child, I bring personal experience and professional expertise to my work. After years of behavioural and educational struggles, one of my children was diagnosed with ADHD and autism. Like many parents, I faced the emotional weight of this diagnosis, along with the worry for my child’s future.
I understand firsthand the challenges of raising a neurodivergent child — anxiety, meltdowns, hyperactivity, difficulty concentrating, sleepless nights, and the constant search for solutions. My passion for helping others comes from this personal journey, and I am committed to offering compassionate, evidence-based care to help families like yours navigate these challenges.
I have Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist qualification from Natural Healthcare College and Health Coach diploma from the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM) and I’m registered with such professional organisations such as NNA, ANP, and GNC.
In my practice, I combine a professional, functional medicine approach with the deep empathy that comes from lived experience.
